What the marketing won't foreground: at $50K of yearly recoveries you're paying $12,500, which is more than most merchants' entire fraud stack. If your recovery volume is small (under ~$1,500/month), the percentage model can actually be cheaper than any flat plan. That's the one scenario where we'd tell you to pick them over us.

ChargeMate: the honest utility player

$10 per case flat or 20% of wins, your choice, and they work across every processor without requiring Shopify Payments. Every case gets a human-written, network-compliant rebuttal. ~85% claimed win rate. If you have low dispute volume across multiple gateways, this is arguably the best value on the list, and we say that knowing they're a competitor.

Disputifier: pay only when we win, capped

Success-based with a $250 cap per recovery. The cap matters: past a certain dispute size, Disputifier's incentive diverges from yours. Shopify-only, claims high win rates without publishing numbers. Fine for basic automation; less transparent on economics than either Chargeflow (public 25%) or flat-fee players.

Chargebacks911: the enterprise incumbent

Full-service remediation, $1.3B+ protected, quotes-only pricing. If you need source-burden analysis and issuer relationships and you have the budget for a consultative engagement, they're legitimate. SMBs will get a sales process, not a signup button.

Chargeblast: prevention, not recovery

Pre-dispute alerts (Verifi/CDRN and Ethoca) from $19/month plus ~$14 per deflected chargeback. Different job: alerts stop the dispute from ever being filed, which is cheaper than winning one. But alerts-only leaves response uncovered. 74% of disputes still end as full chargebacks when nothing is filed back. Pair it with a response tool, or accept the residual.

Shopify Protect: free and narrow

Free fraud-dispute protection for orders through Shop Pay. It does nothing for product-not-received, subscription, or service disputes, which are the majority for most DTC stores. Zero reason not to enable it; zero reason to think it's a chargeback strategy.

ChargeGuard: flat fees, and the agent problem
